Or so runs the mind-set of many area college students.
``I liked Skidmore and the area for college,'' said Sarah Boxer, a senior at the Saratoga Springs school who grew up in Mount Kisco, Westchester County. ``But I don't want to stay in this area for good.''
She's not alone. Undergrads are leaving the Capital Region for the lifestyle -- and, in many cases, fatter paychecks -- in big cities such as New York, Boston, Atlanta or Los Angeles. Janet Mattis, associate director of the Becker Career Center at Union College, estimates up to 95 percent of Union students leave the area after graduation. …
